The Collegiate AC group arrives in Milan, bringing to Italy an exceptional standard of accommodation for students and young professionals, already widely established in the UK and, more recently, in Spain and Portugal.
This new temporary residence offers 700 beds in single, single plus, and double rooms, equipped with premium services and communal spaces for residents, including study rooms, conference rooms, indoor and outdoor cinema, bar-restaurant, fitness area, spa, multifunctional sports field, indoor swimming pool, and ample parking. Most common areas overlook an arched portico surrounding a green open-air courtyard with water features.
Located near the University of Milano-Bicocca at Via Frigia 19, the residence is in a strategic area well-served by public transport, allowing easy access to the city’s top universities.
The building consists of two six-story blocks plus a basement, with accommodation units featuring a kitchenette, private bathroom, and bed.
The building envelope is carefully insulated both acoustically and thermally to ensure high internal comfort and passive energy efficiency. Structural and MEP design incorporated advanced technologies to achieve Energy Class A4, with all architectural and technical design executed entirely in BIM.
StercheleGroup contributed to the project by designing and producing 694 off-site prefabricated bathroom pods, delivered and installed on-site fully finished with fixtures, sanitaryware, and accessories.
Before full-scale production began, StercheleGroup created a prototype bathroom, known as the “Sample Pod”, for review and approval by the clients and designers. This prototype was then installed in the on-site show apartment to provide a preview for stakeholders.
With just a few final touches remaining, the new student residence welcomed its first 400 lucky students in January 2023.
