CityLife, Milan: The NH Collection Hotel, an iconic hotel created from the conversion of the former Cristo Re Church in Milan Portello, has officially opened to the public.
The bold project, designed by Quattroassociati Studio, enhanced both the architectural and functional aspects of the former church, adapting its spaces to the NH Collection hospitality program, renowned for high-quality guest experiences.
The deconsecrated and long-abandoned church has been partially restored: the central nave now serves as the entrance portico with the lobby and reception, the transept has been converted into the restaurant, while the Neo-Renaissance façade with its large arch remains the hotel’s distinctive feature.
Behind the historic structure, a 14-story volume was added, featuring 185 rooms (including 10 suites), a conference center, a rooftop bar, and a panoramic rooftop pool with views of the Milan skyline.
StercheleGroup contributed to the project by designing and producing 175 prefabricated bathroom pods off-site, delivered and installed fully finished with fixtures and accessories.
Before full-scale production, StercheleGroup created a prototype bathroom (“Sample Pod”) to allow verification and approval by the clients and designers.
