As a standard, the bathroom pod base is made of concrete with a specific weight of 2400 kg/m³. If there are weight constraints, lightweight concrete (1800 kg/m³) or alternatively a tubular structure can be used.
The floor thickness depends on the type of finish inside the bathroom pod, typically tiles, and ranges between 13-15 mm.
The total floor package consists of the thickness of the bathroom pod base plus the floor thickness. Additionally, a minimum clearance of 10 mm must be considered for the rubber support pad between the pod and the raw floor slab, along with at least 5 mm of tolerance for leveling the slab where the bathroom pod will be placed.
The thickness of the concrete base of the bathroom pod will depend on its layout and the available thickness within the structure where it will be installed.
For bathroom pods that do not require drains to be installed within the base thickness, the minimum floor package will consist of:
- 15 mm flooring
- 60 mm concrete base thickness
- 10 mm rubber thickness for bathroom pod support
- At least 5 mm tolerance for the support
The total floor package thickness will therefore be 90 mm.
For bathroom pods that include walk-in showers and/or drains for sanitary fittings that need to be routed within the base thickness (excluding the wc drain), the minimum base thickness will be 80 mm.
The total minimum floor package thickness will therefore be 110 mm.
In special cases, customized solutions can be developed.
