Arlanda, the gateway to Sweden, is undergoing a major transformation thanks to AirportCity Stockholm, an urban development project managed by Swedavia, the Municipality of Sigtuna, and Arlandastad Holding AB. The goal is to create a modern, sustainable, and accessible airport city, with high-quality commercial, service, and hospitality spaces.
The Comfort Hotel, designed by Bau Architects, will be located near SkyCity, with direct access to shops, restaurants, and airport connections. Covering 20,000 m² with 503 rooms, it will be the largest airport hotel in the region, meeting the growing accommodation demand for passengers and visitors to Stockholm.
The building consists of two diagonal volumes, 13 and 10 floors respectively, featuring a double-skin façade that captures natural light, creating dynamic reflections during the day and a warm illuminated effect at night. The lobby includes a Bareception, restaurant, “winter garden,” and lounge area, complemented by a fitness center, 24-hour laundry service, meeting rooms, XXL rooms, a suite, and a skybar with panoramic runway views.
StercheleGroup contributed to the project by engineering and supplying 513 prefabricated bathroom pods, made of both concrete and lightweight steel and panel solutions, in three different models, ensuring high quality, efficiency, and sustainability. The hotel, constructed by Skanska using off-site modular methods, will be BREEAM-certified.
Managed by Nordic Choice Hotels, Comfort Hotel Arlanda is set to open in early 2020, offering modern, flexible, and sustainable accommodation, with a strong focus on service quality and guest experience, including the premium prefabricated bathroom pods by StercheleGroup.
